Women, on average, still earn only 77 cents for every dollar earned by men. And women of color make even less. Black women make just 64 cents for every dollar earned by a white man, and Latinas earn only 54 cents. The pay gap costs women about $434,000 over the course of their careers. Yet, Republican legislators blocked the Paycheck Fairness Act in April on Equal Pay Day, rejecting common-sense reform that would help close that gap.

Enough is enough. We cannot – and should not – have to wait any longer for equal pay. Take action now and email your Senator about the Paycheck Fairness Act in advance of this important vote. Together, we can take this important step toward closing the wage gap.

  1. I KNOW women aren’t inferior to men and paying them so implies they are. Furthermore, if the US wants to conquer threats/ideals like ISIS and suppression of women in the Middle East/other countries, I KNOW it must start in it’s own country. Out with the ideas of the 1950s and in with the idea that gender doesn’t matter when you’re answering the phone, serving a burger, making a presentation, serving in Congress, you name it. Is it Denmark or the UK? where citizens essentially all make in the same range and can easily choose their profession? Why do women feel treated inferiorly here? I was offended when a manager referred me to a clerical job. He probably didn’t know what to think when I told him that!

  2. I am a hardworking American woman. I supported myself all through college to avoid student loans, I have worked hard to get a well paying job to support myself as I move further into adulthood. But the glass ceiling that is commonly experienced for women in the workplace is still evident all over the country. I am fed up with doing everything the “right” way and still being punished for it because I am a woman. Let’s do common sense a favor, and close the wage gap!

  3. Unbelievable how you could vote no on something that should be a given in this so-called democracy. I’m so ashamed of our government (you). Equal pay should be had for all.
