Women in Office

The United States is witnessing an unprecedented amount of women running for office. Almost 300 women filed to run for congressional positions for 2012, and against many odds, 154 won their primary. In addition, there are 25 women still running campaigns for active elections. Their representation is desperately needed – with only 76 women in the House of Representatives and 17 in the Senate, the United States ranks 79th in the world of female representation in Parliament. At a time when more extreme anti-woman legislation is on the ballot, it is vital that women have a voice in decision-making.
