Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act

S.181; H.R.11 The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay

Feminist Majority Supported a YEA Vote

The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 amends Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, and also modifies the operation of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The act restores employees’ rights to challenge any discriminatory paycheck they receive; a direct response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in the Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.

The bill was passed by both the House and the Senate, and signed into law by President Obama on January 29, 2009.
