S. 1214; H.R. 2085–MARCH for Military Women Act
Feminist Majority Supports this Bill
The MARCH for Military Women Act amends the prohibition that denies U.S. servicewomen coverage for abortion services in cases of rape and incest, and also prevents them from using U.S. medical treatment facilities or other Department of Defense facilities to perform an abortion. The current law provides an exception to perform an abortion only where the life of the mother would be endangered if the fetus were carried to term. The MARCH for Military Women Act would provide America’s servicewomen the same reproductive rights as most other employees of the federal government.
This bill was introduced in the 112th Congress but was not sent to the floor for a vote. Scoring is based upon whether members signed on as cosponsor.
