Norma Gattsek

Director of Government Relations

Norma Gattsek joined the Feminist Majority/Feminist Majority Foundation in 1999. Currently, Gattsek serves as lead staff on federal legislation. She works to advance the Feminist Majority’s domestic and global women’s issue priorities with Congress and the executive branch, often in coalition with other organizations. As Coordinator of the Campaign for Afghan Women and Girls, Gattsek advocates for the rights of Afghan women and for the US government to continue to include women’s rights and advancement as a focus of U.S. foreign policy in Afghanistan. In this capacity, Gattsek led a fact-finding team to Afghanistan in 2002.

Gattsek has worked as a Congressional Aide and as an advocate for the rights of women and girls in a variety of capacities for more than 30 years. Prior to coming to the Feminist Majority, Gattsek served as Director of the Office on Women and Executive Director of the Commission for Women in Alexandria, Virginia.
