Federal Employees Paid Parental Leave Act of 2009

S.354 H.R.626

This bill provides for paid leave for federal employees for 4 of the 12 weeks of parental leave allowed under current law.  Currently, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) only requires that employers allow employees to take unpaid family leave.  While this bill only applies to federal employees, it is an important step in recognizing the need for paid family/parental leave.
