Suzanne Bonamici

Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, an advocate for small business and consumers, is running for re-election in Oregon’s 1st Congressional District (Portland Suburbs). Bonamici defeated Republican Rob Cornilles in a January special election to fill the seat of Congressman David Wu, who had resigned. Her campaign priorities include the economy, education, and reproductive rights.

Background

Before serving in Congress, Bonamici also served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2007 – 2008 and the Oregon Senate from 2008 - 2011. During her time in the Oregon state government, she: Served as chair of the Consumer & Small Business Protection Committee. Acted as a member of the Education & Workforce Development Committee. Introduced legislation that forced banks to give homeowners facing foreclosure timely information regarding loan modification.

Bonamici is committed to providing affordable and accessible health care for all. Bonamici is a strong supporter of a woman’s right to make her own reproductive health care decisions and have access to contraception.
