Dianne Feinstein

Dianne Feinstein (D) is running for re-election for Senate in California. Feinstein is serving her 4th term and was elected last time with 59% of the vote. Her chances for re-election are excellent in a strong Democratic state. She faces Republican Elizabeth Emken in the General. Senator Feinstein has been a solid vote and strong leader for women’s rights. She sits on the powerful Committees on Appropriations, Judiciary, Rules & Administration, and is Chair of the Select Committee on Intelligence.


Elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, 1970-78; served as President 1970-71, 1974-75, 1978 Mayor of San Francisco, 1978-88 Elected to the Senate in 1992, making California the first state with two female senators (in addition to Senator Barbara Boxer)

Position on Key Issues

Senator Feinstein is a key leader in the Senate on all women's rights legislation. She is a solid vote on all reproductive rights issues. The Senator is especially influential on the Judiciary Committee which deals with critical judicial appointments. Feinstein recently introduced legislation to rescind the Defense of Marriage Act.


Feinstein has an excellent chance for re-election.


Sen. Feinstein's opponent is Elizabeth Emken (R), former Autism Speaks Executive and 2010 Candidate for Congress (CA-11).
